Evolving ECA
for the Next Decade

The Building an ECA for the Next Decade work stream was created to ensure that we identify, propose and help deliver continual improvements across all features of our organisation, from its membership and governance through to its administration and modus operandi.

This year, the focus was on evolving the leadership structure into a more sustainable model that introduces a new market-reality mindset to complement and drive political realities. Following the Board’s election for the first ever four-year cycle, we undertook an internal organisational review that resulted in a change of organisational structure as of 1 April 2020. With this change, we’re seeking to develop a more independent and strengthened Administration with a clearer structure and reporting lines to help better deliver value to our members.

This work stream is also striving to increase diversity across the Association and its membership. The first step in this process came with the appointment of Lina Souloukou, Olympiacos FC, to sit as an observer on the ECA Executive Board in the newly developed role of Diversity Representative. This new position was created in line with the unanimous vote by the General Assembly the previous season to promote diversity and inclusion in football as one of our statutory objectives.
